I think we’re both (you and I) excited about what today’s post is bringing us. Let’s just start by asking one of life’s most fundamental questions pertaining to the human experience.
This was on the side of a...let’s say a food truck...or maybe food stand...or maybe daytime abode of a peddler of axioms. I spotted it on the way to the grocery store.
Jumping back a bit, you’ll remember that I made it to my Airbnb apartment after I landed. But what I didn’t say is that I landed at 5am and then enthusiastically passed out upon arrival at said apartment.
So, sometime in the late afternoon, I awoke and knew that a couple of things needed to happen. One, I had no food. Food was needed. And two, you’ll recall that I froze while waiting for the bus last night/this morning. So, I did some research online and found a grocery store, Countdown, and a cheap department store, The Warehouse, in the same building a few blocks away from me. Special thanks to Auckland. That was very helpful, as a hermit hiding from the world prefers not to venture far from his cave.
At The Warehouse, I debated for quite a while about whether to go with a hoodie or a jacket with more going on in the jacket department. I eventually settled on the hoodie.
At Countdown, I enjoyed wandering through the aisles to see what a grocery store in New Zealand looks like. I particularly appreciated these superhero penguins on some chip bags.
Here was a bag of cereal with a kangaroo mascot. Anyone else know Skippy the Bush Kangaroo of 60s TV fame?
The winner is this. It’s not even cropped to a square, because I didn’t want to diminish its greatness. A pretty substantial section. Just for gravy.
I bought food for meals for the next couple of days. I even responsibly bought a dinner option to be prepared in the apartment instead of buying it at a restaurant etc. It’s not worth details or further mention, though.
And that was pretty much that. It was back to the apartment. Dinner. Snacks. Killing time going down the YouTube rabbit hole. Bed at 4am. Hermit day one. Success.
